Introducing Gurwinder Singh
30th March 2022
In this article, we introduce you to the newest member of GSB’s Property Team, Gurwinder Singh. Having previously worked in property in Edinburgh, Gurwinder joined the Garden Stirling Burnet team at the beginning of the year and is based in our Haddington office.
What is your role in Garden Stirling Burnet and have you always worked in Property?
I am a Property Sales Negotiator and have worked in property since finishing my Law degree. I chose to work in estate agency as I enjoy it very much.
How long have you been with the firm?
I am the newest member of the team having previously worked in an Edinburgh based firm.
How long have you lived in East Lothian?
I have lived in East Lothian for the past 10 years and it really is home to me – cannot imagine living anywhere else!
What are your main hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my 2 girls and socialising with friends.
What tips would you give to someone who is selling a house?
Book in a valuation with us to get an idea of what your property is worth. When it comes to getting your property market ready – keep the property clean and decluttered ready for pictures. First impressions count!
What tips would you give to someone buying a house?
Contact a local solicitor who will know the market well and will advise you on what to offer in order to secure your dream home. Set yourself up with property alerts either through ESPC or direct with GSB.
For someone who has not bought or sold property in some time, what are the main changes in legislation or the market that you should be aware of?
That depends on how long! Home reports are mandatory for all properties live on the Scottish market. This will be at the cost and responsibility of the seller themselves.
Are there commonly held myths about buying and selling property that are simply not true?
That all properties will sell for over 10% of the home report. It is property dependant – factors include condition of the property and level of interest.
What is the most common East Lothian property related question that you get asked?
What is the market like at the moment?
And strictly from a personal point of view, do you prefer old properties or new properties?
I can see the appeal for both types!
