Thanks to Everyone Who Kicked it With us at the Gullane Football Festival!
24th May 2023
Last Saturday (May 20th, 2023), Garden Stirling Burnet sponsored and participated in the Gullane Football Festival, which took place on Memorial Park. It was great to see so many families from across East Lothian, Edinburgh, and beyond turning up to show their support for such a fantastic charity initiative.
The busy morning was full of young people from East Lothian and Midlothian – boys and girls alike – playing in a football tournament. There were 40 teams, with small-sided matches (4v4 up to 7v7) and were arranged by age groups.
The afternoon saw the adults, 32 teams strong – in strips complete with Garden Stirling Burnet branding – compete for a coveted trophy. The winners were a team from Broughton High School in Edinburgh. Well done!
Spectators and players were treated to a BBQ, prosecco and beer tent, raffles, and a tombola throughout the day.
We had a tent set up with our team interacting with the community. We had various games and activities for them all to try.
Our “Top Bins” football game went down a storm, with 9 kids and 1 adult managing to kick the ball into the top bins. The winner from the draw was Archie Conner, who won a £50 Gannon Sports voucher – congratulations!
We also had a competition for people to guess the number of keyrings. The Wireworks in Musselburgh sponsored the prize, which was a £100 voucher for the Bonnie Badger in Gullane. It’s one of Tom Kitchin’s superb hotels, which Cat McCoy won, who said 182, when there were 184 keys. What a lucky guess!
All in all, the Football Festival raised a whopping £12,000 for charities: Maggie’s Cancer Care, Gullane Christmas Lights, and Gullane Athletic Football Club.
If you went to the Gullane Football Festival – we want to say a massive thank you for turning up, showing support for the charities, and cheering the teams on! Don’t forget that if you picked up one of our leaflets, you’ll get 10% off our services with the secret passphrase!
